An expected hot, dry summer means an increased risk of wildfires, even in Western Washington and Snohomish County.
Fire District 26, based in Gold Bar, is offering free visits to homes to help people address wildfire dangers. Firefighters recommend keeping brush, firework and other flammable items at least 30 feet from the house. The district also is looking for volunteer firefighters. More info: Lt. Scott Coulson, scoulson@snofire26.org
