EVERETT — Police are trying to determine who shot three people outside an Everett Taco Bell Monday night.
All three of the injured are expected to survive their wounds, Everett police officer Aaron Snell said.
The shots were fired about 7 p.m. in the parking lot of the fast-food restaurant at 7431 Evergreen Way. Witnesses said that two men pulled up in a white Cadillac and got out. Those two began arguing with two other men in the parking lot, Snell said.
The Cadillac’s driver reportedly pulled a handgun and “fired numerous rounds,” Snell said.
It wasn’t immediately clear what prompted the shootings, Snell said Tuesday. Before the gunfire, one of the people in the Cadillac returned to the restaurant after previously exchanging words.
One of the people hit by bullets had been a passenger in the Cadillac.
The two men the driver allegedly intended to shoot were rushed to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett by aid crews. A Lake Stevens man, 19, later was transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. An Everett man, 29, was treated and released.
A short time after the shootings, the wounded passenger, an 18-year-old Marysville man, was taken to the hospital by a private vehicle. Police questioned but did not arrest the driver.
While there were no current medical conditions available, the injuries to all three are believed to be non-life-threatening, Snell said.
Police were trying to determine Tuesday if the man who drove the injured passenger to the hospital is the shooter. They first have to establish probable cause to make an arrest, Snell said.
The Cadillac was impounded pending a search warrant. Detectives with the Major Crimes Unit are continuing to investigate, Snell said.
