MUKILTEO — Three schools were placed in lockdown here Wednesday morning after a student reported seeing someone with a weapon on an athletic field.
A Kamiak High School student made the report around 9:30 a.m., Mukilteo School District spokesman Andy Muntz said. He did not know what type of weapon the student reported.
Police were called and the school went into a lockdown as a precaution to assure student safety, Muntz said.
Harbour Pointe Middle School next door and Columbia Elementary across the street also went into modified lockdowns, which means exterior doors were locked while activities within the buildings continued as normal.
Police searched the Kamiak campus and the area surrounding the school and found no evidence of intruders or of a weapon, Muntz said. The lockdown ended at about 10:45 a.m.
