The Everett Clinic’s shareholders have voted to be bought out by DaVita HealthCare Partners.
The tally from Sunday’s vote and the deal’s financial terms have not been disclosed.
Two-thirds of the 250 doctors who own the Everett Clinic had to approve the proposed deal.
The clinic was founded in 1924 and today serves about 315,000 patients.
The Everett Clinic will operate as a largely independent regional division within Denver-based DaVita, which has about 65,000 employees around the country. It will keep its name and continue to be led by a physician board, according to executives from both companies. The two sides say they expect to finalize terms of the sale by March 1.
Rising costs and an ambitious growth plan prompted the clinic to seek out a suitor, said CEO Rick Cooper in an interview with The Daily Herald this past week.
“DaVita HealthCare Partners is not only investing in our patients, they are investing in our community,” he said in a statement released Sunday.
