Meet nominees

Democrats plan to introduce candidates for a vacant council seat during a public question-and-answer forum on Tuesday. The event is scheduled from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Everett Labor Temple, 2810 Lombard Ave. Space is limited to the first who arrive. The vacant District 5 council seat covers eastern Snohomish County and was fomerly held by County Executive Dave Somers, a Democrat who won election to the post in November. Democratic Party precinct committee officers are scheduled to select three nominees on Feb. 6 to forward to the County Council for a final selection. Potential appointees include state Rep. Hans Dunshee, of Snohomish; former county Democratic Party chairman and current fire commissioner Mark Hintz, who lives near Snohomish; and Guy Palumbo, a county planning commissioner and fire commissioner who lives in the Maltby area. Plan for Lynnwood parks: The city of Lynnwood is seeking public input on a 10-year plan for parks, arts, recreation and conservation. Two open houses are planned at the Lynnwood Recreation Center, 18900 44th Ave W. The first is 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday. The second is 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, and Spanish interpretation will be available.

Public safety night for Tips: The annual “Local Heroes Night” for the Everett Silvertips starts at 7:05 p.m. Jan. 30 in a home game against the Seattle Thunderbirds.
