Taxes must be spent more wisely

Recently The Herald ran article about Snohomish County property taxes in which the assessor mentions that the taxes have slightly risen. (“Higher assessed values, higher tax bills in Snohomish County.”) By now everybody has gotten the bill and can judge for themselves. For us, in two years the taxes for the exact same property have risen 30 percent!

When you come like I do from a socialist democracy (the Netherlands) you don’t believe these high taxes here. Homeowners in the Netherlands pay way less for taxes and utilities (water, sewer, garbage) than here in Marysville. And they get more back for it — nearly free health care and education. Bernie Sanders knows what he is talking about. You have to spend your taxes more wisely. Taxpayers should not subsidize big corporations and health-care providers. Obamacare should not pay for these ridiculous high premiums that insurance companies like Lifewise ask for bad low-covering health plans. And why must an assessor who seems not to know what she is talking about have an yearly income from more than $110,000?

Sanders is a democratic socialist and not some kind of totalitarian, dictatorial ruler like we know from Nazi-Germany, North Korea, China, Cuba, Russia, Venezuela. These regimes are absolutely not socialist or democratic like some Republicans want you to believe.
