WOODWAY — A body found Thursday morning is believed to be a missing Edmonds woman.
Edmonds police on Wednesday issued a bulletin about the disappearance of Amy Kennelly, 48.
Her car was found late Monday night along Algonquin Road in Woodway. The car had damage from apparently striking a garage door.
Searchers on Thursday found a woman’s body in the woods about 100 yards from the crash scene, Sgt. Shane Hawley said.
“No foul play is suspected in this case and the police department does not feel there is any danger to the public at this time,” Hawley said.
Kennelly’s disappearance follows the troubling case of Cheryl DeBoer, 53, who disappeared on her way to work Feb. 8 and was found dead six days later in a Mountlake Terrace culvert. The investigation continues into DeBoer’s death.
Edmonds police cautioned people not to jump to conclusions based on Thursday’s discovery.
“People in our community are concerned that this case means there is a danger to the community. That is not the case and it is in no way related to the Mountlake Terrace case,” Hawley said.
The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office will confirm the identification of the person whose body was found Thursday, as well as determine the cause of death. The police investigation is ongoing.
