Prep boys basketball: Bellevue 66, Stanwood 56

TACOMA — Stanwood’s season came to end Friday morning with a loss to Bellevue in a loser-out contest at the Class 3A state tournament in the Tacoma Dome. The Spartans finished the season with a 19-8 record.

Bellevue, the No. 2-ranked 3A team in the state, plays Cleveland on Saturday to decide fourth and sixth places.

In Friday’s game, Stanwood fell behind 5-0 in the first minute of the game and trailed the rest of the way.

Bellevue led by as many as 21 points in the second half, but the Spartans battled back, cutting the difference to seven points, 58-51, on 3-point field goal by Trygve DeBoer with 2:55 remaining in the game. That was as close as the Spartans would get.

AJ Martinka led Stanwood with 11 points. Quinton Borseth added nine.

Mikey Henn paced Bellevue (24-3) with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Sharif Khan added 10 points.
