Lake Stevens chief named
The city of Lake Stevens has named Ralph Krusey as the interim police chief. He started in that role March 1, according to a news release.
Krusey, 68, of Camano Island, was a longtime commander at the Marysville Police Department. He retired there in 2013.
Former Lake Stevens Police Chief Dan Lorentzen recently resigned at the request of the mayor. A candidate search is planned to find a new chief for the 30-officer department.
Kindergarten information at Sultan schools:
People with children who will be ready to start kindergarten in September can get information about classes and registration March 23.
An open house at Sultan Elementary School, 501 Date St., is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. At Gold Bar Elementary, 419 Lewis Ave., an informational meeting is set for 6 p.m.
Childcare will be provided at both schools. Parents will need their child’s birth certificate, immunization record and at least two emergency phone numbers to register. That can be done at the open houses or later.
Students must be age 5 by Aug. 31 to start the 2016-2017 school year. For more information, call 360-793-9800.
Talk about new fire station: A public meeting is planned to discuss a new fire station coming to Fales Road in Snohomish County Fire District 7. The meeting is set for 7 p.m. March 16 at Fire Station 71, 180th Street SE, Snohomish. The station is supposed to replace two existing firehouses. It is not expected to open for at least a year. The project is estimated at $5 million.
