The Everett Silvertips held their final practice before Friday’s playoff opener against Portland.
Carter Hart still did not practice. Though the organization isn’t saying, I have a tough time thinking he will play this weekend. I’m not even sure how effective he would be even if cleared to play.
The Winterhawks are not the same high-scoring outfit they’ve been in the past, but they still have a lot of capable playmakers. Mario Petit did shut them down in a 3-2 overtime win at Portland on March 13 and we’ll see if he can recapture the magic this weekend.
“They’re very, very skilled and they really can get up and down the rink,” head coach Kevin Constantine said. “They’re very talented and a get-up-and-down the rink team. They come at you with great offensive skills and tempo.
“They were as dynamic an offensive time in style and in talent as existed when I came back here, and they’re still among the best in terms of their ability to produce offensively,” he continued.
Said defenseman Cole MacDonald: “They’re always an offensive team. Their ‘D’ always joins the rush. Their forwards are always skilled. We just have to be prepared for that.”
And forward Remi Laurencelle: “The one thing is they’re a very good transition team… They’re offensively talented. They have a lot of good players that can go in and score and they try to create chances off the rush and I think that’s one thing they’re very good at.”
Speaking of Laurencelle he appeared with Everett broadcaster Mike Benton on King 5 this morning. You can watch that below:
