Upcoming outdoor events in Snohomish County and nearby

Stevens Pass: The disc golf course and bike park at Stevens Pass are open for summer operations. The chair lift is running, so you can ride to the top and play, ride or walk down. The lift runs today and then will be open July 1 through July 4. After that, it will be open Thursdays through Sundays through Labor Day. Get hours and details at www.stevenspass.com/site/summer.

Animals: The Animal Farm at Forest Park is open for the summer, daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Ducks, sheep, goats, hens, rabbits, more. Free but donations welcome; everettwa.gov/773.

Survive: Learn the keys to effective shelter-building, water purification, fire-making, wild edibles foraging and other skills that can keep you alive in an emergency and enhance your outdoor experiences. Meets 6 to 7:30 p.m. June 28 at the Mukilteo Library, 4675 Harbour Pointe Blvd. Presented by Alderleaf Wilderness College.

Beach: WSU Beachwaters’ naturalists offer storytime for preschoolers at 10:30 a.m. June 29 at the Arlington Library, 135 N. Washington Ave.

Wild: Meet the raptors from Sarvey Wildlife Center at 2 p.m. June 29 at Presidents Elementary School, 505 E Third St., Arlington.

Bear country: Learn how to be safe in bear country. David Moskowitz, a biologist, photographer, author and outdoor educator, will speak at a free event at 7 p.m. June 29 at The Mountaineers Seattle Program Center, 7700 Sand Point Way NE, Seattle.

Walk: Tour the new boardwalk at the NW Stream Center at 7:30 p.m. June 30, 600 128th St. SE, Everett. For middle-school aged kids to adults. $10, register at 425-316-8592.

Fairies: Take the ferry to Whidbey Island and make your own fairy house from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 9 at Meerkerk Garden, 2 miles south of Greenbank. Natural materials are provided but feel free to bring your own additions. $10, 12 and under free; www.meerkerkgardens.org.

Trail work: The North 350 Blades, which does trail work on the Pacific Crest Trail, has two big trail work events coming up. The first, an extended trip from June 9 to June 16, is near Glacier Peak. The second, July 22-24, is near Stevens Pass. Get info and sign up at www.pcta.org/volunteer.
