Tax hike requests keep piling up

More taxes! More money from us citizens. The Herald article, “Taxes on the ballot: First come, first passed?” addressed the talk of another, not one but two, tax hikes. In Snohomish County we are at nearly 10 percent for sales tax alone, having just voted to increase our taxes for Community Transit by .3 percent. Our property taxes continue to go up. Now Sound Transit wants more of our money and Snohomish County wants its share too for more law enforcement.

Why do our taxes always go up but never down? And promises made that a particular “temporary” tax will expire never expires or is renewed so we never see our taxes go down. Is the reason inefficiency on the part of those receiving our taxes? There is a great deal of waste that can be pointed to. With more people moving into the county that should create a greater deal of efficiency. It is a known fact that government is grossly inefficient. Why are we allowing them to be that with our help? We must force Sound Transit, Snohomish County, Community Transit, plus other entities, plus our individual cities to be more efficient. If we don’t they will continue to come to the trough for more of our money.
