EDMONDS — A series of early morning calls to 911 about a recklessly driven U-Haul truck ended with the driver of that vehicle crashing into the garage of a house, Edmonds police reported Friday.
The calls began around 5:50 a.m. and included a hit-and-run complaint about a U-Haul box truck that crashed into a fence.
Other callers reported the truck speeding and being driven recklessly.
Patrol officers were searching for the truck when they received a report that it had crashed into a garage at a home in the 7600 block of 200th Street SW.
Damage was significant to the home and vehicle, Edmonds police Sgt. Shane Hawley said. The residents were there at the time of the crash but were not injured.
An Edmonds woman, 23, was identified as the driver. She was taken to Swedish/Edmonds hospital for an evaluation.
“It is suspected that she was under the influence of drugs at the time and is being investigated for DUI,” police said in a written statement.
Also damaged along the way were fences, landscaping and mail boxes.
The investigation is ongoing, police said.
