United Airlines plans to webcast the rollout of its newly painted Boeing Co. 787 on Tuesday.
The airline’s new Dreamliner will roll out of the Everett paint hangar at 5:30 a.m. Pacific time.
United’s 787 is painted with a gold line “wraps the fuselage and swoops from nose to tail. The swoop is inspired by the trademark swoop painted on each of Boeing’s aircraft and is being adopted for the United 787 in a tribute to the two companies’ long history of working together,” the carrier said in a press release.
United and Boeing recently settled on compensation over 787 delays. The airline also placed a massive order for 737 Max aircraft.
Over the weekend, a Boeing 787suffered engine troubles in North Charleston, S.C. That 787 was equipped with General Electric GEnx engines. United also has selected GEnx engines for its 787s. The incident in Charleston is under investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board.
Boeing will hand over United’s first Dreamliner to the airline in September. The airline is one of several set to take initial Dreamliner deliveries over the upcoming months.
