Fife minicasino closes in bankruptcy

FIFE — One-hundred people have lost their jobs with the closing of Freddie’s Club, a minicasino and card room in Fife.

The News Tribune reports that Freddie’s closed its doors Sunday and a bankruptcy trustee will disburse the assets.

State Gambling Commission spokeswoman Susan Arland says Washington had nearly 100 such businesses at the peak six years ago, but today about 60 remain.

The Recreational Gaming Association of Washington has been asking the Legislature to allow minicasinos to have electronic gaming devices, which resemble slot machines.
