NATO protesters in Chicago staged a “die-in” at Boeing headquarters in Chicago today to show opposition to the company’s role supporting the U.S. military.
The Chicago Tribune’s NATO blog has followed the protesters movements aroudn the city, which hosted the NATO summit.
On the march to Boeing, protesters chanted; “We’re gonna beat back the Boeing attack,” the Tribune reported.
Once at Boeing, some protesters sprawled out on the streets with outlines of their bodies drawn in chalk.
Photos of protesters shooting silly string at the Boeing building can be found on Facebook and Twitter.
The Associated Press reports that the mood among the 200 protesters outside Boeing was relatively festive, with people blowing bubbles, tossing confetti and wearing party hats.
Others thought the turnout for the Boeing demonstration was lackluster. CBS Chicago tweeted that one observer remarked: “My
family reunions are bigger than this.”
Boeing had instructed most of its employees in Chicago to work from home Monday.
