If there was one big thing to take away from the summer festivals this year like Bumbershoot, Sasquatch and Capitol Hill Block Party, it’s that Seattle has a new guitar hero and his name is Reignwolf. Monday was the one day of Bumbershoot I was really excited about and though I love Passion Pit, but Reignwolf was the main attraction for me.
The lawn at the Starbucks stage was crowded and Reignwolf didn’t disappoint. He took the stage and introduced Amazen King, a drummer he found performing on the street before his set and decided to invite on stage to play a couple songs with him. It was impressive how good the two sounded especially considering they likely didn’t get much time to practice together.
Every time I see Reignwolf perform I am blown away and left wanting more. For one song he came down to the crowd and played while the front line tried to grab a piece of him. He even performed a fantastic cover of ‘The Chain’ by Fleetwood Mac.
“I was about to head to another show and then he started to play ‘The Chain’ and I just couldn’t leave” said Bumbershooter Mateo Moore.
I think it’s safe to say we have only scratched the surface of Reignwolf and I cannot wait to see where he goes from here. No matter what happens next, in the Pacific Northwest at least, 2012 has certainly been the year of Reignwolf.
