The Silvana Fair: For some good wholesome “Fun in the Sun,” stop by the Silvana Fair and help celebrate 65 years of traditional fair fun.
The Silvana Fair continues to have that old-time feeling with kids exhibiting cows, sheep, goats, dogs, pigs, chickens, ducks and rabbits. There’s the classic displays of antique tractors and tables inside Viking Hall covered with jars of home-canned fruits and vegetables, baskets of fresh eggs and Silvana-sized vegetables.
New this year is a tractor pull.
Returning for the third year to close out the fair is the Parade of Champions, the livestock best of shows.
And even after 65 years, the Silvana Fair is still free.
The fair offers fresh flowers and grilled burgers and joyous kids earning ribbons for their arts, crafts and produce.
The Silvana Fair is a learning fair for kids where they can makes mistakes while preparing to participate in bigger fairs later in the summer and fall.
“Everyone who goes to the fair is sure to learn something about farm life and rural activities,” said Lynn Pattison, Silvana Fair Board vice president.
The 65th annual Silvana Community Fair is one day only from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Viking Hall, 1331 Pioneer Highway, Silvana. Free. For more information, call 360-652-8682 or go to www.silvanafair.com.
The parade travels along 56th Avenue W. from 234th Street northward to Evergreen Playfield.
The parade includes the Seafair Pirates and Clowns, Lake City Western Vigilantes, drill teams, dancers, floats, trucks and classic cars.
In addition, Tour de Terrace highlights include live music and entertainment on the main stage, a beer garden, food booths with a variety of selections, a pancake breakfast, a street fair, Davis Amusement Carnival rides and the classic car, truck and motorcycle show.
Fireworks start at 10 p.m. Saturday.
Also, new this year is the Mountlake Terrace 5K Fun Run/Walk that begins at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Mountlake Terrace High School, 21801 44th Ave. W., Mountlake Terrace.
The cost is $25 per person, $20 for children and free for children under 5. Go to Active.com, search for “Mountlake Terrace 5K” to register or find the link at www.cityofmlt.com. Registration closes at 11 p.m. Friday.
Tour de Terrace runs from noon to 11 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday.
