50 years ago (1963)
Major Roscoe N. Saxer, 57th Abron Matron commander at Paine Field, was the principal speaker at the breakfast meeting of Evergreen Kiwanis Club at the Alpine Cafeteria. He gave an illustrated talk on Paine Field’s role in the air defense of the Pacific Northwest.
Finalists for the Moonlight and Roses Sweetheart Dance at Everett Junior College were Barb Speers and Ron Gervonack, Photography Club; Tom Tipton and Patty Gill, sophomore class; Vicki Kindle and Louie Baransky, freshman class; Ozzie Kvithammer and Claire Lynn Sells, Ski club; and Marilyn Kaysner and Tud Loui, Lettermen’s Club.
25 years ago (1988)
Allen Giffen of the Everett Planning Department would be the main speaker at the Greater Riverside Organization meeting at Garfield School. He was expected to discuss a proposed rezone in the area. Mary Winspear, spokeswoman for the group, said the session was open to all residents.
Children 1 year to 12 years were invited to join an open house Valentine party at La Petite Academy. With registration the first week of tuition was free. There were also exciting door prizes. The academy was located at the intersection of Mukilteo Speedway and Bev-Ed Road (Albertson’s Mukilteo Center).
