50 years ago (1962)
Bruce Sarvis was among members of the Cascade High School Band selling Christmas trees to raise money to buy more uniforms. The trees were on sale at the entrance to the Everett Motor Movie at Highway 99 and Beverly Drive.
Five divisions of Camp Fire — Sun, North, Cascade, Mukilteo and Riverside — were to carol at the Bon Marche in downtown Everett each evening from Dec. 17 through 21. Included among them were Pam Anderson, Horizon Girl; Shannon Pedigo, Junior High Camp Fire; Shelley Walswroth, Camp Fire; and Kathy Croker, Blue Bird, all singing from caroling books supplied by Richfield Oil.
25 years ago (1987)
Members of the Everett VFW Auxiliary No. 2100 again were helping to answer letters to Santa that came to the Everett to the Everett Post Office. They were doing it in the memory of the late Bill DeGroot, longtime Post Office employee and VFW Post commander who used to answer the letters.
F.J. Mellom, a south Everett resident, recently was honored by Seattle City Light as a member of a four-person team receiving the utility company’s Ross Achievement Award for developing computerized systems that shortened the bill processing time.
