BOTHELL — No one was seriously hurt after a Ford Taurus and a utility truck hauling shingles collided Monday.
An 82-year-old Bothell woman was eastbound on Highway 524 when she reportedly turned in the path of a truck, Washington State Patrol trooper Kirk Rudeen said. The truck was driven by a 55-year-old Woodinville man.
The truck dumped a load of roofing shingles on the shoulder of the highway. The road was closed for a short time while crews cleaned up the mess.
The two drivers didn’t appear to have life-threatening injuries, Rudeen said.
Index: Lost hiker rescued safely
Snohomish County sheriff’s deputies rescued a man who got lost hiking near Lake Isabel Monday, officials said.
The man, 19, headed out Sunday to hike to the lake, north of Index, sheriff’s spokeswoman Rebecca Hover said. He apparently took the wrong trail and became disoriented.
The man called his parents Sunday night to tell them he was lost and planned to spend the night in the wilderness, Hover said. Search-and-rescue teams were called late Sunday.
Deputies, using a sheriff’s office helicopter, found the man at 10:20 a.m. Monday about a quarter mile from the lake. They lowered a radio to the man and deputies on the ground guided the man uninjured to safety.
He had a compass but no map, still the man told his parents where he planned to go which allowed rescuers to locate him, Hover said.
