Mars: Teen aerospace program launches
Got Mars on the brain? The popular Washington Aerospace Scholars summer residency program for high school juniors kicks off its next competitive season. A NASA-designed online curriculum that marks the first phase of the selection process runs December to May. The deadline to apply for the 2015-16 cycle is Nov. 6.

Budget: Learn basics in Lake Stevens
A Lake Stevens School District Community Education class, “Budget Basics 101,” will be offered from 6 to 8 p.m.Oct. 29 at the Lake Stevens School District offices, 12309 22nd St. NE.
Join instructor George Lusk in this budgeting class where you will learn the primary reasons for debt, learn about the debt cycle, discover the simple basic steps to eliminating debt and learn how to create and live with a workable budget.
The course fee of $22 covers all family household members.

Win: Table tennis tourney returns
The Carl Gipson Senior Center of Everett holds its annual Ernie Dunton Memorial International Table Tennis Tournament, 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Nov. 7 at 3025 Lombard Ave. Cost is $50 for members of The Carl Gipson Senior Center of Everett and $55 for all other participants.

Run: Costumes optional for Y race
The Monroe YMCA Sky Valley Classic Family Fun Run, with 1-mile, 5k and 10k routes for running or walking, will be held at 9 a.m. Oct. 31 starting from Main Street near Highway 203.
Explore the city and Sky Valley, including Lewis and Al Borlin parks. Costumes are encouraged. The 1-mile route is dog- and stroller-friendly. Awards will be given to top racers in the chip-timed event.
Fees range from $10 to $35. Proceeds benefit YMCA youth programs in Snohomish County.

Donate: Camp Fire luncheon
The 2015 WoHeLo Luncheon will be held at 11:30 a.m. Nov. 4 at the Everett Holiday Inn. Proceeds from this event will benefit Camp Fire of Snohomish County programs. This year’s luncheon features guest speaker Lynda Cheldelin Fell with her message about health, healing and hope.

Advance: Learn about IT certificates
In Edmonds Community College’s PACE-IT (Progressive Accelerated Certificates for Employment in Information Technology) program, students pay no tuition and work at their own pace to earn select IT certificates online. They pay for books, college fees and any industry exam fees.
Information and admission sessions are set for 6 p.m. Nov. 4 and Dec. 2 in Maltby Building 109, 7020 196th St. SW, Lynnwood, as well as Nov. 5 via Skype.
