Community Transit recently honored two commuters involved in its programs that aim to reduce drive-alone traffic.
Lindsay Ward, of Lynnwood, was named the Smart Commuter of the Quarter. Ward has taken the bus or carpooled for both her commute and daily errands for more than 11 years. She works in Bothell. The savings is helping her pay off her mortgage by the end of this year, nearly 20 years early.
Mary Grassl, of Everett, was named the Curb the Congestion Champion of the Quarter. She decided to go car-free about a year ago. She takes the bus and walks to get to her job in Lynnwood and for errands. She saved stress, and about $1,200 — enough to take a four-day trip to New York City.
