Driver killed as sewage tanker overturns on S.R. 702

YELM — One person has died after a sewage tanker overturned on State Route 702 at State Route 507 near the Thurston/Pierce County line.

KING-TV reported the accident closed all southbound lanes on the highway.

Washington State Trooper Guy Gill said the driver of the tanker was heading westbound on SR 702 near SR 507. He ran the intersection into a parking lot and rolled the tanker.

The collision killed the male driver of the truck and spilled about 3,000 gallons of landfill waste water onto the road.

Gill said there was reportedly heavy fog in the area at the time of the collision.
