FBI seeks help to identify ‘Beardo’ the Everett bank robber

EVERETT — The FBI is asking for help to identify a bank robber who has struck in Everett at least six times since June.

The robber is being called “Beardo” because he wears a fake beard, according to a news release issued Friday. He has targeted various banks on Evergreen Way, Fourth Avenue W, 19th Avenue SE and Everett Mall Way. The most recent robbery was Friday near the mall.

A Seattle-area law enforcement task force is working the case, including Everett detectives.

The robber is believed to be white, between 40 and 50, and about 5-foot-10 with a thin build. He has brandished a gun in some of the robberies but in others only implied having a weapon, FBI spokeswoman Ayn Dietrich-Williams said.

He wears a fake beard, sunglasses and some kind of covering over his nose, which might be cardstock or a costume piece, according to the FBI.

He is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone who may recognizes the man should not approach him and should contact police right away, Dietrich-Williams said.

Anyone with information should call 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). A cash reward is available for tips leading to an arrest.

Until Friday, Everett police had released little information about any of the robberies. In one case from July, the robber may have used a red bicycle for his getaway. Additional pictures were posted to the police department’s Facebook page.

The FBI often is involved with bank robbery investigations because banks are federally insured. Bank holdups are one of the most high-risk crimes compared to potential gain, experts say.
