Duane Gleave plans to demonstrate the construction of Norwegian tine boxes and show different techniques of Scandinavian wood carvings at 10 a.m. Saturday during the regular meeting of the Thelma Lodge Daughters of Norway, 2725 Oakes Avenue, Everett.
Gleave will have examples of articles he has made using the different techniques. Membership in the Daughters of Norway is open to women of Scandinavian descent or those interested in Scandinavian culture who are 13 years and older. Guests are welcome at this meeting.
Affordable Care Act forum: Learn what is included in the Affordable Care Act and how it will affect individuals, families and small businesses in Washington. Hear from Brendan Williams, deputy commissioner for Policy and Legislative Affairs at the Office of the State Insurance Commissioner, at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the PUD Building, 2320 California St., Everett. A question-and-answer period will follow.
The forum is sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Snohomish County and co-sponsored by the American Association of University Women, Edmonds and Everett branches. The event is free and open to the general public.
Get ready: An emergency preparedness fair aims to help people prepare for earthquakes, storms and other disasters, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Everett Station, 3201 Smith Ave., Everett.
The EMPOWER fair is open to the general public, but it also aims to break down barriers for people of color and vulnerable populations.
