Storytime Carnival
The Mukilteo Public Library is holding its annual Storytime Carnival event at 10:30 a.m. Thursday. The event is geared for children age 2-5 (and their parents) and includes train rides, tables with crafts for preschoolers and storytelling at 11:30 a.m. The events are free and no sign-up is required. The library is at 4675 Harbour Point Blvd.
Fees increase: The Lynnwood Transportation Benefit District has decided to double vehicle registration fees. As of Feb. 1, the annual fees will increase from $20 to $40. That will bring in another estimated $500,000 for road projects.
20 years of ‘binkies’: The Binky Patrol, an Oregon-based outreach, recently celebrated its 20th anniversary. A Marysville-based chapter has been involved for 16 years, knitting, quilting and crocheting 14,000 quilts and afghans. The “binkies” are given to children in traumatic situations through hospitals, clinics and group homes in Snohomish and Skagit counties. The local chapter always seeks more sewers, as well as donations of fabric, yarn or thread. They meet next on Aug. 7 in Marysville. For more information, call 360-659-7198.
Donate shoes: The Mill Creek Lions Club plans a shoe drive from 5 to 9 p.m. Aug. 11 at Willis Tucker Park, during the park’s outdoor cinema event. All sizes, children and adult, are needed. The shoes are distributed to schools and homeless shelters. More info: millcreeklions@gmail.com.
