Student photo contest

Applications are being accepted for the 2012 Student Photographer of the Year Award, open to all high school seniors in Washington. One student will receive a $2,000 scholarship to further the applicant’s study in the photographic arts.

A panel of professional photographers who are members of the Professional Photographers of Washington will select the finalists.

The application deadline is March 23. For more information call Anita Weston at 425-776-4426 or check the organization’s website at www.ppw.org.

Exchange student scholarships: Youth For Understanding, an international high school exchange program, is offering scholarships for high school students interested in learning about Germany and German culture.

Students in Snohomish and Island counties are eligible for the Stipendium or Stiftung scholarships for a year or semester study abroad in Germany.

To apply, students from Snohomish and Island counties can visit the American students section at www.yfu-usa.org/american-students.php and click on Ready to Apply. The deadline is Feb. 7. To inquire about specific scholarships, call 1-800-TEENAGE.
