The Snohomish County Auditor’s Office is scheduled to remain open until 6:30 p.m. Monday for last-minute registrations for new voters. Today is the last day new voters in Washington state may register to vote for the Nov. 6 general election. Those interested must register in-person at the Auditor’s Office located on the first floor of the Snohomish County Administration West Building, 3000 Rockefeller Avenue, Everett.
In order to register to vote in the state of Washington, a person must be a citizen of the United States; have lived in Washington state for at least 30 days; be at least 18 years old by Election Day; and not currently be in the custody of the Department of Corrections or other criminal justice system due to a felony conviction.
Free heart screenings for youth: Snohomish High School is hosting free youth heart screenings from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Nov. 7. The screenings, offered through the Nick of Time Foundation, are open to all area youth between the ages of 14 and 24 years, regardless of enrollment. To participate, pick up a heart screening “Health Survey” packet at the school’s main office or its athletic office, or download a copy online at http://tinyurl.com/8vvfnpg.
Meet Mill Creek finalists: The public is invited to meet the finalists for Mill Creek’s city manager position during a reception Tuesday night.
The reception is scheduled for 7 p.m. at City Hall, City Council Chambers, 15728 Main St. During the event, each finalist will give a short presentation on his background and interest in the position. Later, members of the public will have a chance to talk to candidates one on one.
The City Council hopes to make a final decision in November.
The City Council fired former City Manager Timothy Burns last spring. Public works director Tom Gathmann has been filling the job on an interim basis.
