Man found dead in Lake Ballinger last week identified

MOUNTLAKE TERRACE — The man found dead in Lake Ballinger last week has been identified as Sylvio Kasongo.

The cause and manner of death remains under investigation, according to the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office.

A walker spotted Kasongo, 24, of Edmonds, near the dock Oct. 5. There were no obvious signs of trauma, police said. Kasongo may have been in the water for several weeks.

Mountlake Terrace police continue to investigate Kasongo’s death, Assistant Police Chief Pete Caw said Monday.
