OAK HARBOR — Divers found a man’s body in Cornet Bay on Tuesday morning still seat-belted into his 2012 Dodge Challenger.
A witness told police a man was parked on the boat launch talking on the phone around 12:30 a.m. After he hung up the phone, the man drove into the water, according to a press release.
The witness heard a “pop” a few seconds later, the Island County Sheriff’s Office reported.
Deputies arrived at Cornet Bay and found the car 15 feet under water.
The Island County Coroners Office is expected torelease the man’s identification after an autopsy is completed.
