EVERETT — A motorcyclist reportedly reached speeds of 147 mph Tuesday morning while trying to elude the Washington State Patrol.
It happened on southbound Highway 529, between Marysville and Everett.
The motorcycle’s speed was recorded by a State Patrol airplane, trooper Heather Axtman said.
Troopers on the ground had spotted the motorcyclist on I-5 near 41st Street, she said. At that point, his speeds were more than 80 mph. He took off from the attempted traffic stop, eventually getting onto Highway 529 and then heading into north Everett.
The car chase was ended for safety reasons, Axtman said. The airplane crew kept watch, though, and observed the man hide his bike behind a boat in Everett. That happened outside a house near Oakes Avenue and 15th Street.
“The occupants in that house did not know him,” Axtman said.
He was arrested at gunpoint. He was booked into jail and posted bail pending charges.
