MUKILTEO — Dignitaries including Mukilteo Mayor Jennifer Gregerson and U.S. Rep. Rick Larsen joined officials from the state Department of Transportation on Wednesday to mark the beginning of construction on the new $134.7 million Mukilteo Ferry terminal project.
“This is the foundation of the entire project,” said Charlie Torres, project manager for Washington State Ferries.
Workers will begin installing pilings, the structures which support the foundation of the two-story terminal, in September. That work could be completed by the end of the year. The new terminal is expected to open in late 2019.
