LYNNWOOD — Snohomish County search-and-rescue teams were looking for a teen Friday evening after he reportedly shot a friend by accident.
Four boys between the ages 14 and 17 went out to a wooded area along Cascadian Way. One of them had gotten a hold of a family member’s gun, Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Shari Ireton said.
Deputies were told the gun inadvertently fired and a bullet struck one of the teens in the arm, Ireton said. He is expected to survive.
The boy holding the gun dropped the weapon, panicked and ran, Ireton said. Emergency calls began coming in around 4:40 p.m.
Search-and-rescue crews hoped to find him soon.
“We’re worried about him,” Ireton said.
No additional information was available Friday evening.
