ARLINGTON — A large-scale rescue operation was launched Saturday after witnesses said a woman might have jumped from a bridge into the North Fork Stillaguamish River.
The search was suspended about 8:30 p.m. Police found no sign of the woman. They were not able to confirm anyone had been in the water, according to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident had been reported about two hours earlier. Witnesses said a woman was standing on the Centennial Trail bridge near Arlington’s Haller Park. They said she had climbed over the safety fencing. They looked again moments later, did not see her and called 911.
A hovercraft crew, a helicopter team and divers assisted with the search.
