50 years ago (1964)
David Schroedl, Rt. 2 Marysville, got advice from Second District Congressman Jack Westland in his Washington, D.C. office, prior to his departure for Kaduna, Nigeria, where he would begin two years service in the country’s Ministry of Planning. Schroedl had completed undergraduate work at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
After being at 3019 Colby Ave. for more than 30 years, Werner Realty Co. moved a half block south to 3107 Colby Ave. in the Washington Title Insurance Building. The move was to make way for a new J.C. Penney store. Werner would have more space in its new space. Paul F. Peterson was broker-owner of the firm.
25 years ago (1989)
Vivian Havens of Everett was celebrating her 90th birthday today with her family. The retired Everett teacher had just published her first book, which was based on the mystery hijacker known as D.B. Cooper.
Kitty Jones of Snohomish said she was a yo-yo dieter, up and down, all her life. Last fall she went public with “Never-Give-Up” weight loss/control program, which helped women find the root causes of overeating and other destructive habits while teaching Christian principles.
