50 years ago (1955)
Elta M. Brown, celebrating her 83rd birthday tomorrow, was still on the job six days a week in Brown’s Music Shop, which she and her daughter Beulah opened in 1930. Brown continued to do the bookkeeping for the firm as well as wait on customers. For Brown’s birthday, Mr. and Mrs. Harley A. Kelley were having a dinner party at their home on Seahurst Avenue.
Earl “Click” Clark, former Everett High School football coach, received the Sullivan Award in Seattle last night for outstanding contribution to sports over the years. For many years the Everett native was the trainer for University of Washington athletes.
25 years ago (1980)
Bert Larsson was nuts over cross-country skiing. He had entered his first ski race in his native Sweden when he was only five. Now a building contractor in Everett, he was recently in Lake Placid, New York, to help plan the Olympic cross-country ski course.
