50 years ago (1963)
The Everett Exchange Club rang the curtain down on its Boy and Girl of the Month program for 1963 when it met at the Elks Home yesterday at noon. Speaker of the day was Capt. Robert L. Benson, Paine Field chaplain. Recipients were Bonnie Kooser, South Junior; Steve Anderson, North Junior; Merilee Frets, Cascade; and Mike Denney, Everett.
The more than 30 merchants at the South B&M Shopping Center had outlined their business buildings in Christmas lights this year, creating a beautiful fairyland effect. The decorations were attracting wide attention.
25 years ago (1988)
In a Herald promotion Everett attorney Frank Wilson said that reading the paper was very much worth his time. He said that if a person didn’t read the local paper, he really didn’t know what going on. Reading The Herald from front to back was part of his routine.
At Everett, Cascade won 10 of the 13 matches in the nonconference wrestling meet with O’Dea. Six of the Bruin’s victories were by pins by Rich St. Thomas, Steve Jennings, Isaiah Brent, David Gilbert, Chris Parker and John Anderson. Cascade was now 3-1.
