Woman killed in house fire near Lake Serene in Lynnwood area

Firefighters entered the burning home and retrieved the woman, but attempts to revive her failed.

LYNNWOOD — A woman died in a house fire near Lake Serene early Sunday morning.

Next-door neighbors reported hearing an alarm and seeing flames at the home in the 3500 block of Serene Way at 12:37 a.m. South Snohomish County Fire & Rescue said firefighters were told a woman was still inside. They entered the burning home, found her and got her out, but were unable to revive her.

A firefighter had a minor injury.

The woman’s age and name were pending identification and family notification.

The Snohomish County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the fire.
