Thank you so much for publishing the Nov. 16 letter regarding Lynnwood’s red light cameras. I almost had to skip down to the name to make certain that I hadn’t written it as I, too, have had identical experiences with the red light cameras in Lynnwood. Like the previous writer, I was quite dismayed to receive, in the mail, a $124 ticket for making a “free” right turn on a red light. I know that I stopped, because I always do. I was grateful that at least the infraction was reduced to $65. But then, to receive another ticket several months later for another $124 was beyond belief! What a fundraiser for Lynnwood!
After the second time, like the writer, I have made the firm resolve to avoid driving through Lynnwood at all costs. Not only can I not afford it, but I don’t want to live under the stress of going to my mailbox two weeks after passing through the town only to find another violation. It’s simply not worth it. When I want to go to the mall, I shall gladly visit Everett, Bellevue Square or Northgate and spend my money in better ways than supporting the coffers of a small city down the road. I feel badly for the businesses, but that’s the way it is!
