Kathleen Parker’s column in Sunday’s Herald is the first attempt I have seen to take a dispassionate look at the Trayvon Martin situation. (“Martin case: hair-trigger assumptions from all sides.”)
Ninety-nine percent of the words spoken and written about this tragic event have focused on the race issue. While the difference in race likely is a factor in the shooting, this event must be investigated in all aspects before anyone pronounces judgment. For the news media to have given voice only to the fact the shooter and his victim are of ethnic backgrounds is doing an injustice to everyone.
Dare someone voice the thought “what if the races had been reversed?”
