I am saddened at the passing of Drew Nielsen. We served together on the Everett Planning Commission for several years. When I moved to Whidbey Island, I became a port commissioner at the time he became a City Council member.
He was my corporate attorney at times, refusing to let me pay for his services occasionally.
The last time I saw him was the morning after he was successful in his latest election. I congratulated him. I always thought he would be there. Now, I need to simply rely on my memory of him and ask myself from time to time: “What would Drew do?”
