Every weekend morning I stop at the Starbucks located in the QFC on Evergreen Way. I always notice a middle-aged, somewhat disheveled man with a graying beard sitting quietly with a cup of coffee and something to eat.
Last weekend this gentleman was standing outside the Starbucks. It was cold. I asked him if I could buy him a cup of coffee and he replied in a very quiet voice that he had already had a cup and thanked me.
When I was inside, I asked the barista about this man and shared that I had offered to buy him a cup of coffee. They then told me an amazing story. The young barista held up a Starbucks card and said, “This is Frank’s card.”
Customers to this Starbucks donate money to “Frank’s card” and every morning Frank has a cup of coffee and something to eat. Needless to say, I made a donation to Frank’s card.
In this crazy time with so much uncertainty and with so many people hurting, it was good to hear that, thanks to the generosity of customers to the QFC Starbucks, Frank can be certain he has breakfast waiting for him every day.
So, if you go to the Starbucks at the QFC on Evergreen Way, remember to put a little bit of money on Frank’s card. It will make your day a little brighter.
Thanks to all who have made donations and to those who will now.
