The only way to stop the sales of these ungodly semi-automatic rifles and the extra clips is for people to protest, with full-size posters of their dead loved ones included, outside of gun stores and the stores that sell these weapons of mass destruction.
Stand outside the gun show in Monroe this weekend with signs and items of those killed as you genuinely exhibit your never-ending grief and pain to anyone who appears to be considering buying such as item or has purchased something the looks like one of these unholy machines that cannot be used for hunting other innocent animals — only the human species.
Cry, lament, sing. Do what you do time and time again after your children are shot, at candlelight vigils, but do you protests where whey will do some good: guns shows and businesses that sell these particular guns. Have the courage of your convictions. No great changes in the world have occurred without them.
Stay within the guidelines of the law. Do your homework to find out where the sales are being held and where the businesses that sell these monster weapons exist. Then meet there. It’s a much better use of your time, if you really care about curbing these obscene weapons, than chasing invisible things.
I am not excusing the young man’s actions in Mukilteo or anywhere else. But the true monster here, and in so many of these tragedies, is the gun seller — the man or woman who will put a military-style weapon in the hands of someone who would have otherwise not been able to kill so many people.
Might you risk your safety doing as I suggest? It’s possible, but thinking that way means we are doomed by fear or our surrounds, and I don’t think any of us wants to live that way.
