So Colin Kaepernick didn’t stand for the national anthem. Jeremy Lane of the Seahawks didn’t. And Doug Baldwin is thinking about it.
These rich men are free to stand or not to stand for the national anthem. They are free to decide because other men made ultimate sacrifices to secure for them the freedom to express their views.
Their views apparently include disdain for the country that gives them that freedom.
Imagine what would happen if these players publicly sat down for the North Korean national anthem in North Korea. The result for them would be imprisonment and deportation. Their local government “minders” would be executed, of course, for letting it happen.
These players are too ignorant to know how little to no freedom people experience elsewhere so as to be able to appreciate the extraordinary freedoms their own country offers them.
One freedom I enjoy is the freedom to turn off the game on Sunday if even one Seahawk disrespects my country before the game begins.
