I have a lifelong habit of reading the paper each day. My day is not complete if I have not. I have to say, Wednesday morning when I read the front page report on the person who killed a little dog for begging, I could not finish the story. I was so sickened by it. I think we are used to seeing evil and cruelty in stories, usually regarding a child, or in this case, a pet that is treated so horribly. I am at the point where I believe such people, like the person who committed the crime, should be removed from our society. I don’t think they can be rehabilitated or ever trusted to be free to commit these terrible crimes again against some other helpless creature or person.
The consequences of treating these evildoers in a harsh way serves three purposes — first, they won’t be able to repeat such acts; second, they will suffer for their crimes, and third, they may serve as a deterrent to other would-be evildoers. I am done with sympathy for the devil. No more excuses.
