After reading the letter calling for a new government program that would honestly compare all candidates for a particular office, I think that is a great idea. (“A new template for elections.”) In, fact our founding fathers, in their great insight, made certain we would have just that. However, it is not a government program, it is the freedom of the press; unfortunately, the press have not been doing their job for a long time, rather than being an unbiased observer reporting the facts, they are unable to shelve their own bias and are actually cheerleading for their favorite candidate.
Let’s hope the Herald will move more toward that model of an unbiased source of information, without steering the news by ignoring stories that make their guy look bad or by being lazy and relying on the Asocciated Press for the news without investigating the story for all the facts.
