State Attorney General Bob Ferguson, aka Side Show Bob, a Democrat is running for governor. If you didn’t know, you may be living under a rock. He has been suing everything that walks talks or moves. All his lawsuits are to gain statewide and national attention.
But the tables are turning on him. He now is being sued by Value Village, which says it went to court to head off an expected suit by Washington AG Bob Ferguson’s office. The company in 2015 settled an investigation by the Minnesota attorney general over its donation and disclosure practices. They paid the fine and changed their rules.
Side Show Bob sees “easy pickings,” but before he can react, the company became pro-active. Value Village says the state has violated the company’s rights by demanding $5.1 million then the AG’s office dropped it to $3.2 million to settle a three-year investigation, yet refuses to meet with the company. Its law firm, TVI, “said the attorney general’s office insisted that it disclose how much of the sale price of items in its stores goes to charities, something the company said would violate its free-speech rights and is precluded by Supreme Court precedent.” What other “for profit” company does that?
Ferguson is trying to gain national attention for challenging the Trump administration on several fronts. His party lost and he is spending taxpayer’s money because it will gain him attention. He needs to stop.
