The trail down at Lowell Riverfront Park is a great place to walk. The trail follows the Snohomish River, which provides the walker with a relaxing, scenic view. The parks department has done a wonderful job of enhancing the appeal of this trail by keeping invasive species at bay and re-introducing plants native along the trail.
In October, the Snohomish Running Company sponsored a race and used the trail. A representative of that company sprayed florescent orange marking paint on more than 90 places on the trail. That paint is still visible today, four months later.
Thankfully, the Everett Parks department has taken steps to insure that this kind of desecration of our trails does not happen again, and has included language in future permits which prohibits the use of any kind of paint on our trails or walkways by groups using our park facilities.
Many thanks to the Everett Parks Department and especially to Lori Cummings, assistant director, for taking positive steps to preserve the natural beauty of our public lands.
