Why should cars subsidize buses?

Regarding the article, “County transit wants to ask voters for tax”:

Is CT’s bus service that bad?

I have a question for Rep. Liias and Ms. Eleanor of Community Transit regarding their plan to add 1 percent to our car tabs.

Rep. Liias and Ms. Eleanor, what is the connection between the fact that I license a car in Snohomish County and the fact that you want to subsidize bus rides?

Please submit your explanation to The Herald; I’m sure they will print your reply. I can’t be the taxpayer who doesn’t make the connection between my car and your buses.

Why not raise the tax on boats registered in the county? That would make just as much sense.

Ms. Eleanor, can’t you charge Community Transit riders a fare that amounts to more than 21 percent of its value? If I were getting a service for a 79 percent discount, I would feel like I was stealing something.
